Amdaris has been shortlisted for the Employer Award in the 2020 Technology Playmaker Awards.
Now in its third year, the awards were founded by Booking.com founder Gillian Tans and highlight the contributions of women who transform businesses, industries, and communities through technology.
The 2020 edition received hundreds of entries from around the world. 44 inspirational women and employers were named as finalists this morning across 9 different categories.
The Employer Award recognizes either a company that has made significant progress in advancing the diversity agenda within their company or tech workforce, or a non-profit organization that has made significant progress in championing and encouraging diversity across the IT and technology industry.
The recognition as a finalist follows an active campaign by Amdaris to encourage women to pursue careers in tech, especially at the grassroots level in Romania and Moldova.
In 2015, Amdaris hosted an industry-wide conference in Moldova in 2015. This featured women-in-tech advocate Jon Skeet from Google, who spoke about the importance of women in the sector.
Amdaris also sponsors facilities at the Technical University of Moldova and pays for its employees to teach courses to advanced students. The most recent class was taught by Delivery Lead Olesea Oaserele, was also named a TechWoman Ambassador in 2019 by the Moldovan technology community.
In 2015, Amdaris helped Gapsquare develop its FairPay® software, which helps companies detect pay gaps and promote equal pay.
Amdaris were named as one of 5 finalists, along with Sparta Global, Techionista BV, Techfugees, and ArsGames. The winner will be announced on Thursday 26 March at a ceremony in London, which will feature talks by Rana el Kaliouby, CEO of Affectiva and a pioneer in Emotion AI, and Linda Liukas, founder of Rails Girls.
Andy Rogers, co-CEO of Amdaris, said of the news, “I’m really thrilled that Amdaris has been shortlisted for such a prestigious global award, especially as it recognises our commitment to promoting diversity.
“As a company this is something we care deeply about, especially when it comes to encouraging women to consider careers in the tech sector. I’m really looking forward to meeting the judges and other finalists, and hearing more about the importance of gender equality and the amazing things women do in tech around the world.”
