It’s the fifth and final day of the Bristol Technology Festival and the last theme of the week is ‘pioneer’. Read on to find out what this word means to us at Amdaris.
In the world of technology, the word ‘pioneer’ is often used to describe the likes of Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates and Paul Allen, who all undoubtedly had an impact on making technology more accessible to people. Where would we be without such visionaries?
The IT sector is one of those industries where you can’t afford just to keep pace. To be truly successful, you need to lead from the front – and this means taking risks.
Amdaris was born in 2009, just after the 2008 financial crisis and when many firms were expecting dire times ahead. However, our founders (and now co-CEOs) Vlad Nanu and Andy Rogers had a vision of how they could build a solid and successful company – one that could offer exceptional tech skills to help clients on their digital journeys within the financial restraints they were facing.
From legal, finance and education tech to music and health tech, pioneering new software innovations is what we do best. But don’t take our word for it – it’s in the results. We’ve worked with the likes of musicMagpie, Babcock International and EMIS to develop and transform their software, develop agile processes and drive business growth.
Pioneering case studies
Nkoda is the largest online library of digital music around. But the company was driven to create a single digital access point for all different types of musical material – a platform that could revolutionise how musicians learn, create, collaborate and share music.
So, we partnered with nkoda to not only deliver a multi-platform app on time and within budget, but to develop the nkoda software by scaling our team of highly skilled developers. The app was given a scalable architecture that is enabling nkoda to grow at a staggering rate. It highlights the benefits of a truly partnership-led and collaborative approach to development.
Likewise with Pearson PLC, one of the world’s biggest learning companies with international reach in over 70 countries. Pearson wanted to upgrade their management of exam assessment and administration. Dealing with various disparate databases and applications, and a reliance on manual and paper-based processes, Pearson needed a full digital transformation – and we were selected for the challenge.
This process involved extensive research by the team to break the project down into clearly defined segments. This included workshops to enhance workflow understanding and research into Front-end UI and UX. What transpired was a new system, integrating old and new software, that could handle aspects such as course registration, exam booking, invoicing and grading.
Finally, on another occasion, we worked with a global executive search firm to help create a cloud solution that would aggregate, synchronise and visualise data from different sources. To ensure all multiple organisational needs – existing and future – were covered, the team developed a solution that, again, included a variety of technologies and applications such as Azure SQL Server Database and ETL. Today, the solution allows the firm to analyse the data and extract valuable insights, helping them to make more efficient and accurate business decisions.
The bottom line
There’s no question that, for us at Amdaris, it’s all about leading from the front – and our leaders prove it. Last year, Andy and Vlad were named amongst the LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders, a programme supported by The Times that celebrates the inspiring leaders behind some of the UK’s most successful and fast-growing medium-sized firms. The duo was also shortlisted for ‘Business Leader of the Year’ in the 2022 Business Leader Awards, alongside winning ‘Business of the Year’ at the same awards.
Being a pioneer doesn’t have an end date. It is a state of mind that was embraced by our founders when they started Amdaris. It’s what makes our people exceptional and what drives them to always want to explore new ways of doing things to imagine the impossible and achieve the best outcomes for our clients.
