Vitalie Lupu profile
August 2019 was an especially important month for Amdaris. After working with a major oil and gas service provider for over a year on a series of digital transformation projects, Amdaris was asked to begin providing ongoing support, or “managed services.”
To begin offering managed services on the scale this client required, Amdaris had to expand and adjust. Both digital transformation and managed services draw upon similar development skills, but managed services require a much closer relationship between the two companies. Amdaris decided to open an office in Dubai to provide a physical presence near its UAE-based client.
One of the first hires for the new office was Business Relationship Manager Vitalie Lupu, who just happened to have the ideal mix of skills and experience for the new role. When the opportunity for the Business Relationship Manager role came up I was working on a master’s degree in IT for business from Moldova Technical University.
“I had heard of Amdaris, especially because of its links with MTU, and a colleague recommended I speak to them. When I learned what skills they were looking for, and that the role would be based in Dubai, it was like the stars had aligned.”
Vitalie’s work history did indeed include a mix of skills and experience which made the role seem ideally suited for him. A self-starter, his career began while he was still at university when he started an IT procurement company as a student. This led to additional jobs in procurement, both IT and Oil and Gas retail, which included a move to Dubai in 2013.
After two years, he returned to Moldova and began a new career in corporate event management. Two years after this he was offered a job with a leading Real Estate firm, acting as a combined corporate account manager and business relationship manager.
“This was a great experience for learning how to build business relationships. I connected with a lot of important stakeholders from important companies.”
In 2017 Vitalie then switched to another role – External Relations and Special Projects Manager for Development Aid, a platform that provides information services for donors, agencies, consultancy firms, NGOs, and individual consultants working for the international development cooperation sector around the world.
With his extensive experience in IT, project management, and business relationship management, plus a new masters in IT for business and two years of experience working in Dubai, adding Vitalie to the team was an easy decision.
In his new role, Vitalie handles everything from daily incidents to strategic needs for Amdaris’ act as a mediator between IT operations and the business for the UAE-based client. His work also includes financial modeling to validate costs, and even product designs.
“At Amdaris, delivering value to clients is how you ensure and ongoing business relationship. Looking beyond the contract and seek opportunities to create value. To deliver what in your job description is not enough,” Vitalie explains. “Sometimes even the client does not always understand what the best solution is. We try to understand the client from A-Z, and we are constantly analysing how every change will impact them. Without well-functioning IT, the business would not run.”
Six months into his new role, and Vitalie is happy to be back in Dubai, and extremely happy with the Amdaris way of doing business.
“Amdaris is completely different from any company I have ever worked for,” he said. “Each and every person at Amdaris has obviously a different role and everyone takes responsibility for delivering results as a team, but we all “Act as one” – meaning we’re supporting and helping each other, celebrating success together, and speaking out with one voice.
“There are management layers at Amdaris, but you don’t feel them. There is no filtering – every idea is heard. And if something needs to be done, it gets done.”
