Since 2009, Amdaris teams have successfully been solving impossible software challenges for our customers. However, for us, success means also cultivating a positive company culture and giving back to our local communities and planet. As the number of our office locations has grown, so has the size of our staff and our influence across Europe. With this, our responsibility to make a positive impact has grown too.
“At Amdaris, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) isn’t just a goal for the future but a business model that’s embedded into our company culture. By incorporating CSR into our day-to-day actions, we’ve created a positive impact beyond the software development sector and committed to the triple bottom line: people, profit and the planet.” Vlad Nanu, Co-CEO at Amdaris
We’re passionate about improving the local communities we operate in, through creating job opportunities and investing in the next generation of talent. We also support charities and sustainability initiatives as part of our mission to become a carbon-neutral company in the future.
Caring for our local communities
Throughout the global challenges of the past two years, we’ve worked hard to create a positive impact across all the countries we operate in, many of which have an increasing need for digital specialists in order to improve their nation’s economic growth.
One example of this is our investment in the renovation of the new amphitheatre of the Technical University of Moldova. This state-of-the-art training centre provides the university with all of the necessary tools to help shape and form the minds of future tech talent. We are also proud to have equipped a total of three Moldovan schools with refurbished and upgraded computers that will help improve the educational opportunity of the country.
All our local Amdaris offices are an active part of their communities. Last year, our team in Romania donated Christmas presents to disadvantaged children and the elderly, who wouldn’t otherwise have received anything on Christmas day. Others of our colleagues donated gifts to the Multifunctional Rehabilitation Centre in Moldova to support people in need.
Educating future tech talent
In addition to our close partnership with the Technical University of Moldova, we’ve collaborated with several other universities including the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and Moldova State University. Our team leaders have provided regular lectures, courses, and workshops on Information Technology, as well as acted as experts and judges in competitions. In the summer of 2021, Amdaris provided 30 free video lessons for students and professors of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Moldova State University.
We launched our first Software Development Internship Program in 2016 and have hosted internships ever since. Our interns have the opportunity to be mentored by Amdaris’ most skilled Senior Mentors and to learn about our technology, business practises and innovations. Last year, we ran a total of six internships (three in Romania, two in Moldova and one in Ukraine), which received a record number of applications.
We’re always looking for ways to improve our company culture and look after our staff. Given mental health and wellbeing are pressing issues following the pandemic, we’re now working with organisation Unmind. Unmind is a digital platform that offers colleagues clinically backed tools that can help them manage and prevent stress, anxiety and burnout.
Taking care of our emotional and physical health is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves and our loved ones. At Amdaris, we support several charity initiatives including Breast Cancer Awareness Month every October. We offer our colleagues and their families free educational webinars about cancer awareness and prevention.
Another of our big aims is to improve opportunities for women in tech and to support women looking to move into this field. Currently, 30% of our technical specialists and leaders are female, which is much higher than the industry average. We hope this percentage will continue to rise as we continue to host female mentorship programs, networking opportunities and career transition workshops.
Ongoing training and development
We believe that everyone should have the chance to continuously develop and improve their skills, whatever stage they’re at in their career. Our active mentorship programs are available both to new students and to our experienced employees, who can both access regular workshops, Senior Mentors and lectures to help increase their skills.
Our regular online webinars, hosted by our colleagues, cover topics including data science and analysis. We provide external and internal training and certification opportunities for our staff to keep them up to date with current technologies. In 2021, 28 Amdarians received 34 certificates to reflect their proficiency and expertise.
Like many companies, we turned to remote working during the pandemic. To safely optimise the number of people in our offices, we challenged some Amdarians to an online/offline internal Hackathon where the challenge was to create a much-needed desk booking app. Our brilliant employees came up with an innovative software solution that provided a simple way to book desks and implement social-distancing measures in a COVID-secure workplace.
The Amdaris Forest Mission
We’re dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment. In 2021, we successfully planted over 2,500 trees in Moldova in 2021 and began tree planting initiatives in Romania too.
Our Amdaris Forest mission in Moldova and Romania supports our pledge to become a carbon-neutral company. We are driven to use environmentally friendly resources and processes in order to help improve the sustainability of all locations we operate in.
We look forward to continuing to help shape the minds of future tech talent through our collaborations with schools and universities, as well as to further supporting charities and organisations that align with our company values. Through this vital work, we’re confident that Amdaris will continue to, not only succeed in leading the way in digital transformation for our clients, but also in creating positive social, economic and environmental transformation for our communities too.
